How Al-Anon Works for Families and Friends of Alcoholics

Conference Approved Literature (CAL)

Al-Anon Family Group Headquarters, Inc. publishes books, pamphlets, service materials, and magazines.  Most Al-Anon and Alateen meetings offer complimentary literature to newcomers, and offer books and pamphlets for sale.    Read More

Al-Anon/Alateen literature and service materials help members to continue their recovery between meetings and gain insight into themselves and the principles of the Al-Anon/Alateen program.  Conference Approved Literature (CAL) is written by and for our members and goes through a thorough review process by numerous Al-Anon members to assure that it conveys the program in a consistent and comprehensive manner.  There are several ways to order literature.

This literature supplements the face-to-face meetings where Al-Anon members share their insights and experience with each other.

Al-Anon Information Services and Literature Distribution Centers

An Al-Anon Information Service (AIS) is a local service established by one or more groups or districts located close enough to one another for easy access and communication.  An AIS exists to aid the groups it serves in the common purpose of carrying the Al-Anon message to the suffering families and friends of alcoholics.Read More

Some AIS centers operate telephone hotline staffed by Al-Anon members, to help individuals looking for information regarding Al-Anon meetings.

Al-Anon Literature Distribution Centers (LDCs) provide Al-Anon members with local access and quick delivery of Al-Anon books, pamphlets, booklets, kits, posters, films, guidelines, and other  Al-Anon material.  The LDC and WSO work together in partnership to carry the message of hope and recovery through our Conference Approved Literature and service tools.  An LDC’s surplus earnings are used to support other local Al-Anon services.

Area 11 has three Information Services and Distribution Centers:

Statewide: Georgia Area Central Services (GACS)

Local: Augusta/Fort Wayne and Metro Atlanta Information Services (MAIS)
